Early Christmas thinking and shopping

This month I've been thinking about Christmas shopping. I have three kids 7, 4, 2. They love getting mail so I've been looking into several monthly sticker and craft clubs. They look great but a little more than I wanted to spend (considering I would have to buy three!). So I decided there is no reason I can't put these together myself.

I've been printing off ideas, craft projects, coloring pages and recipes. Each month they will each get several craft project sheets and any particular craft items needed, coloring pages, stickers and some kids recipes all wrapped up and put in our homemade mailbox. Another reason I love this is many times around our house the kids want to do a craft project or cook a certain recipe but it may not be a good time. I feel like this way if everything is ready and they have certain projects to do each month we will be more likely to do them.

Do you love this idea as much as I do? If so here are some resources I've been using.

Craft Projects

  • www.kidscraftweekly.com Some great crafts with pictures. Each week there is a different theme. Look through her archive of weekly crafts for some great ideas and sign up for the weekly email. We made our homemade mailbox from her Mail theme.

  • Little Kids Crafts – I bought this ebook and really loved it for the pictures. I think pictures are so important when you are doing craft projects. I printed off a lot of different projects to include throughout the year.
    little kids crafts ebook

  • www.orientaltrading.com some great craft project kits ( if you want this done for you), large selection of stickers (search for the make a scene stickers), small toys, odds and ends

  • Coloring Pages

  • Educational Coloring pages - They have a free section with all kinds of different characters. They also have preschool coloring pages you can buy with fun ABCs and 123s.

  • www.crayola.com- Lots of different coloring pages

  • www.pbskids.org- coloring pages and activity sheets with cartoon characters

  • Download these recipes

  • I've made recipe cards with kid friendly recipes to include each month also. There are 10 recipe cards to download on this page Kids Free Recipe Cards..

  • Also look through our kids cooking party section and you will see more recipe cards you can download and print off as well as blank free recipe cards.

  • For Preschool kids print off the picture recipes.

  • My final idea was to include stickers (buy them anywhere), coupons for a trip to the park, an ice cream cone, etc. And occasionally something fun like a tatoo, pencil, bracelet, bookmark or small toy.

I just wanted to pass this idea on. It takes a little organization but could be a lot of fun throughout the next year.

Even if you are not interested in making your own kids mailing each month, go ahead and print off the recipes and start a recipe file or book for you or your kids.
