Part 1: Reading a Recipe

For today's Kids Cooking Lessons we will be discussing how to read a recipe.

A recipe isn’t like most things you read. You need to know what a serving is and understand the list of ingredients You also need to understand the prep work within the directions and ingredients and much more. For part one of our lesson today, please read this page about how to read a recipe.

Part 2: Make Cheese Ball Recipe

1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
Pecans, chopped
Olives, chopped or small can of crushed pineapple, optional

In a bowl, add cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Stir until cheeses are well blended together. If you like olives or pineapple, add either of these. Add 1/4 Cup of chopped pecans. Mix together. Lay a sheet of wax paper on the counter. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. With your clean hands, form cheese mixture into a ball. Then roll in pecans. You can eat immediately or chill in refrigerator. Serve with crackers.
