Lesson 12
If
you are just joining kids cooking lessons look back at
Assistant
Lesson plans 8
where we had a great lesson on making your own MyPyramid chart and
going on a grocery store tour.

Chef-in-Training
Lesson Plans 3
where we practiced keeping a food diary. Review these for any ideas you
might want to implement in today's lesson.
Part 1: Learning about
Nutrition
and Eating Healthy

Today
in kids cooking lessons we are going to go over the MyPyramid chart as
we have done in previous lessons.
If you need a
MyPyramid chart visit here
for a MyPyramid kid's poster PDF version that you can print off and
hang
in your kitchen.

Part 2: Using the Food
Pyramid for Healthy Eating
Now plan out one day's menu, including breakfast, lunch, snack and
dinner, making sure all the food groups and the appropriate amounts are
used for balanced nutrition.
The amounts are located
on the advanced version of MyPyramid kid's poster. For example, it
reads,
6 oz. of grains everyday, at least half should be whole.

Have an adult look it over and help prepare the meal
that was
planned.
