Lesson 8

Kids Cooking Lessons are going to start baking today! One thing every kid and teenager (not to mention adults!) all have in common is a love for cookies! Choose a cookie recipe you'd like to make today. Chocolate Chip cookies or Snickerdoodles are good ones to try but the list is endless.

Kids Baking Cookies

Perhaps you've already made cookies before with help but today you are the chef. Your adult helper can be there for supervision if you need them but you are the head baker today.

Snickerdoodles
3 ¾ Cups flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 Cup butter or margarine
2 Cups sugar
2 eggs
¼ Cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Prepare cookie sheets by greasing them either with cooking spray or using shortening on a paper towel. In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and ½ teaspoon salt. In a separate bowl, add softened butter, 2 Cups sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla to the sugar mixture. Blend together, and then add dry ingredients. Mix together until well blended. Form dough into 1 inch balls.

In small bowl add 3 Tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon together. Roll snickerdoodle ball in sugar, coating all around. Place balls on cookie sheet. Flatten with the bottom of a drinking glass. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.

Enjoy! Keep on baking!
