Lesson 7
By now, if you've been doing Kids Cooking Lessons for awhile, your chef
has really become just that, a great chef!
Teaching Others to Cook
A great way to reiterate what you have learned is by teaching others.
Does your teenager have younger siblings, cousins or young children in
church they can teach a few cooking lessons to?
Have them teach a lesson or two
from
the basic cooking lessons
(3-6 year old group).
Or if they want something more challenging, teach a youth group
how
to bake homemade bread.
Another idea is having your Senior Chef learn a new
main dish or
dessert recipe on their own and then teach you how to cook it. Here is
a recipe to try that will really impress:
Chicken Broccoli Roll ups
4 chicken breasts halves
2 slices cheese
1 Cup chopped broccoli
Veloute Sauce
1 Tablespoon flour
½ Cup milk
1 Tablespoon chicken broth
1 teaspoon fresh parsley
¼ teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Flatten chicken by placing chicken breast between two sheets of waxed
paper. Then pound flat with a kitchen mallet or rolling pin. Cut one
cheese slice into four strips. Place one strip in center of each
chicken. Top with chopped broccoli.
Roll chicken up and secure with
toothpicks if needed. Place in casserole dish. Cook at 350 degrees
until no longer pink.
While chicken is cooking, whisk flour and milk together in a saucepan
on medium to low heat. When mixture thickens and starts to boil, add
broth, parsley, salt and pepper. Whisk together. Add remaining cheese
slice and continue cooking until cheese melts. Pour over chicken. Cook
another 10 minutes or until heated through.
