Spider Cake

Spider Cake

by Cindy

This was probably one of the easiest birthday cakes I've made for my kids! I baked the cake mix in a round pan and finished off the batter in cupcakes.

I started with a star tip on my decorating bag and filled the bag, half with purple icing and half with black. You could used any colors you want, but this cake was for my son, so black and purple seemed like great colors. (It was also close to Halloween)

I covered the entire cake and all the spider cupcakes with little stars. Then I went back and added white circles with icing for the eyes and a black center in the white to finish the eyes. Then I added a crooked little smile. I used bright pink.

The finishing touch is the legs. They're made out of pipe cleaners, twisted and shaped. On the big spider I tucked the legs under the cake, on the spider cupcakes I poked them in on the sides.

Easy Spider Cupcakes

Prepare your cupcakes and allow to cool. Frost tops and dip each top into black sugar sprinkles. Add red hots for eyes and black licorice legs.
