Fake
Hamburgers (April Fool’s Dessert)
By Kids
Cooking Activities
These
adorable “hamburgers” are actually sweet treats!
Vanilla wafers act as buns, peppermint patties
become the burger, and sliced gumdrops look like
ketchup and mustard. A quick and funny April Fool’s
dessert kids love to assemble.

Prep: 5–10 minutes | Yield:
6–8 mini hamburgers
Ingredients
- Vanilla wafers
- Peppermint patties
- Red gumdrops, sliced
- Yellow gumdrops,
sliced
Instructions
- Place one
vanilla wafer flat side up.
- Add one
peppermint patty on top to resemble the burger.
- Slice red
gumdrops thinly and place on top for “ketchup.”
- Add a thin
slice of yellow gumdrop for “mustard.”
- Top with
another vanilla wafer to complete your fake
hamburger.
Kid-Friendly Tips
- Use a plastic knife for slicing gumdrops.
- Warm gumdrops slightly in your hands to make
slicing easier.
- Arrange on a platter like real burgers for
extra laughs.
Fun Variations
- Add green-tinted frosting for “lettuce.”
- Use chocolate wafers for darker “buns.”
- Dust tops lightly with sesame seeds for a
realistic look.
Notes
Assemble shortly before
serving so wafers stay crisp. Store in a cool
place but not the refrigerator to avoid softening.
