Idea
These sweet Noodle Bird’s Nests
are a fun springtime treat made with toasted
spaghetti pieces coated in a warm cinnamon syrup.
Kids love helping break the noodles, shape the
nests, and add the candy “eggs” in the center.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dry spaghetti noodles (or similar thin
noodles)
- 3 tablespoons molasses or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup yellow candies (like M&M’s or mini
chocolate eggs)
Directions
- Break the noodles: Break dry
noodles into 1–2 inch pieces. (Great job for kids
to help!)
- Toast the noodles: Place
noodles in a dry skillet over medium heat. Stir
constantly 2–3 minutes until golden. Turn off heat
and let cool a bit.
- Make the syrup: In a small pot,
stir together molasses (or syrup), sugar, and
cinnamon. Heat on medium-low until gently bubbling
(about 2 minutes), stirring carefully.
- Mix: Pour hot syrup over
toasted noodles and stir until evenly coated.
- Form the nests: Grease 4 muffin
cups (or small bowls). Scoop about 4 tablespoons
mixture into each and press to form a nest shape
with a small dip in the center.
- Cool & decorate: Let cool
about 15 minutes. Pop out and add 3 yellow candies
in the center of each nest.
⭐ Kids Can Help
- Break noodles into pieces
- Stir noodles while toasting (with close
supervision)
- Press mixture into muffin cups to form nests
- Add candy “eggs” when cool
Fun Variations
- Chocolate drizzle: Drizzle
melted chocolate over cooled nests.
- Different "eggs": Use jelly
beans or mini chocolate eggs.
- Extra crunch: Stir in 1–2
tablespoons toasted coconut or crushed cereal.
Safety note: The syrup is hot—an
adult should handle heating and pouring.
