Popcorn Snowman Balls

Popcorn snowman balls
  • Yield: Makes about 6–8 popcorn snowmen (2 balls per snowman)

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ quarts popped corn
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup or less white chocolate (melted)
  • Candy pieces for eyes, nose, mouth, buttons, hat, etc.

Instructions

  1. Pop popcorn and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter and marshmallows, stirring until smooth.
  3. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn and mix until coated.
  5. With buttered hands, form into snowball shapes. Make two balls per snowman (a larger base and a smaller head).
  6. Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe dish, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  7. Add melted white chocolate to the top of the base ball and place the head ball on top to “glue” it.
  8. Use melted white chocolate to attach candy decorations.

Kids Cooking Tips & Notes

  • Sticky hands: Butter hands (or use disposable gloves) before shaping.
  • Adult help: Melting marshmallows and chocolate should be done by an adult.
  • Design station: Set out candies in bowls so kids can build faces/buttons easily.
  • Tip: Press gently—too much squeezing makes popcorn balls dense.
