12–16 truffles
Ingredients
- 6 oz chocolate
(milk, dark, or semi-sweet), divided
- 3 oz cream cheese,
softened
Instructions
- Melt 3
oz of the chocolate in a
microwave-safe bowl, heating in 15-second
intervals and stirring between each interval
until smooth.
- While chocolate
melts, stir cream cheese in a bowl to soften.
- Mix melted
chocolate into the cream cheese until fully
combined.
- Place mixture
in the freezer for about 30 minutes, until it
reaches a soft, clay-like texture.
- Roll mixture
into balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Freeze truffle
balls until firm.
- Melt the
remaining 3 oz chocolate.
- Dip truffle
balls into melted chocolate, coating completely.
- Return to
freezer until chocolate is set.
Kid-Friendly Tips
- Kids can stir the cream cheese and roll the
truffles
- Adults should handle microwave melting
- Use a small scoop for even-sized balls
- Let kids decorate with sprinkles before
chocolate sets
Variation Ideas
- Roll centers in cocoa powder instead of
dipping
- Use white chocolate for coating
- Add a drop of vanilla or peppermint extract
Notes
If the mixture becomes too
soft while rolling, return it to the freezer for a
few minutes. Store truffles refrigerated until
serving.
