Prep: 15 minutes | Chill: 45 minutes | Yield: About 18- 24 truffles

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 3 oz semisweet chocolate
  • ⅔ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Finely chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)

Instructions

  1. Place butter and chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Refrigerate mixture until cool enough to handle, about 30 minutes.
  4. Lightly butter your fingers and roll mixture into small balls.
  5. Place chopped nuts in a shallow bowl.
  6. Roll each truffle in the nuts to coat.
  7. Chill truffles again until firm. Store in the refrigerator.

Kid-Friendly Tips

  • Kids can roll truffles and coat them in nuts
  • Use a small cookie scoop for even-sized truffles
  • Adults should handle melting chocolate
  • Try rolling some in cocoa powder or sprinkles instead

Variation Ideas

  • Use shredded coconut instead of nuts
  • Add a drop of peppermint or orange extract
  • Drizzle with melted white chocolate

Notes

If the mixture becomes too soft while rolling, return it to the refrigerator for a few minutes. Keep truffles chilled until serving.
