Kid jobs: read package directions, measure, stir, and choose toppings
A favorite muffin mix can sometimes be cooked in a waffle iron for a quick breakfast variation. Because package mixes use different ingredient amounts, this works best as a flexible cooking idea rather than one exact recipe.
How to Make Muffin Mix Waffles
Prepare the muffin mix according to the package directions.
Check the batter. Waffle batter should pour more easily than thick muffin batter.
If the batter is very thick, stir in 1 tablespoon of milk or water at a time until it is slightly thinner. Do not add more than needed.
Adult: Preheat and lightly grease the waffle iron according to its instructions.
Pour in the amount of batter recommended for your waffle iron.
Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffle is golden and releases easily.
Carefully remove the waffle and allow the iron to reheat before adding more batter.
Serving ideas: Top with sliced fruit, yogurt, applesauce, nut or seed butter, or a light drizzle of syrup.
Waffle iron safety: Waffle irons become very hot and can release steam when opened. An adult should operate the appliance and remove the finished waffles.
