minutes | Yield: 4
individual bowls
Ingredients
- 1 can apple pie
filling
- 2 tablespoons brown
sugar
- ¼ cup quick-cooking
oats
- 2 tablespoons
butter, softened or melted
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup Bisquick mix
- Wax paper (for
covering)
Equipment
- 4 small microwave-safe bowls
- Mixing bowl + spoon or fork
Instructions
- Divide apple
pie filling into 4 microwave-safe bowls (about ½
cup per bowl).
- In a separate
bowl, mix Bisquick, oats, cinnamon, brown sugar,
and butter until the topping looks clumpy and
crumbly.
- Spoon the crumb
topping evenly over the apples. Do not
stir— keep it as a crunchy layer on
top.
- Cover one bowl
loosely with wax paper and microwave for 3–4
minutes (cook bowls one at a time).
- Repeat with
remaining bowls.
- Let bowls stand
for 10 minutes to cool and set before serving.
Kid-Friendly Tips
- Kids can scoop apple filling and sprinkle
topping over the bowls
- Adults should handle removing hot bowls from
the microwave
- Teach “don’t stir” so the topping stays
crisp-like on top
Serving Ideas
- Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
- Add a sprinkle of extra cinnamon
- Drizzle with caramel sauce for a special treat
Notes
Microwave times vary by
wattage and bowl size. If the apples aren’t
bubbling, microwave in 30-second bursts. The
10-minute rest helps the topping firm up and
prevents burns from hot filling.
