Vegetable and Beef Stew

A crock pot stew made with beef, turnips, carrots, potatoes, onion, and celery.

Vegetable and beef stew

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs. beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6-8 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 small turnips, diced
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery

Directions

  1. Stir flour, salt, and pepper together and toss with beef stew meat to coat. Place in crock pot.
  2. In a large measuring cup or bowl stir together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, paprika, seasoned salt, and brown sugar.
  3. Pour over meat.
  4. Chop vegetables and add turnips, carrots, potatoes, onion, and celery.
  5. Cook in crock pot on low 8 to 10 hours or high 4 to 6 hours.
Serving Tip: This stew is a warm way to try turnips with other familiar vegetables.
