  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the beaten egg and gradually stir in the milk until a thick batter forms.
  3. Pour the batter into a tall glass or measuring cup to make dipping easier.
  4. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel and carefully insert a wooden stick into each one.
  5. Heat frying oil to 375°F.
  6. Dip each hot dog into the batter, turning until completely coated.
  7. Carefully lower the battered hot dog into the hot oil.
  8. Fry until the coating is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Remove with tongs and drain on a paper-towel-lined plate.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

Mini Corn Dog Tip: Cut the hot dogs in half before adding the sticks. The smaller pieces are easier to coat and make kid-size mini corn dogs.
