Baked Mini Corn Dog Roll-Ups
These baked corn dog roll-ups skip the deep fryer. Kids can help roll the cornmeal dough into ropes and wrap it around hot dog halves.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups cornmeal
- 3 1/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 8 hot dogs
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the softened butter, egg, and milk.
- Mix until the ingredients come together into a soft dough.
- Cut the hot dogs in half to make 16 mini roll-ups.
- Take a small piece of dough and roll it into a long rope.
- Wrap the dough rope around one hot dog half.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and hot dogs.
- Place the roll-ups on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the dough is lightly browned and cooked through.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Kid Cooking Tip: Rolling dough ropes and wrapping them around the hot dogs is a great hands-on cooking job for kids.

Roll a small piece of dough into a long rope, then wind it around a hot dog half until most of the hot dog is covered.
