Ham, sweet potatoes, and green beans make a simple sweet-and-savory foil packet dinner. A little butter, garlic powder, and brown sugar add flavor while everything cooks together.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: About 15-20 minutes Yield: 1 foil packet To serve more people: Make one packet per person, multiplying the ingredients as needed.
Ingredients
1/4 of a ham steak
1/2 cup thinly sliced or diced sweet potato
1/2 cup green beans, fresh or frozen
Butter, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste
Brown sugar, to taste
1 large sheet heavy-duty aluminum foil
Directions
Lay a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil on a work surface.
Place the ham in the center of the foil.
Add the sweet potato and green beans around the ham.
Add a small amount of butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and brown sugar to taste.
Bring the edges of the foil together and fold securely to seal the packet.
Cook the packet over moderate campfire coals or on the grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning or rotating as needed, until the sweet potatoes are tender and the meal is heated through.
Carefully remove the packet with tongs and let it rest for a few minutes.
Open the packet away from your face and hands to allow the hot steam to escape before serving.
Sweet Potato Tip: Cut the sweet potato into thin slices or small pieces so it cooks in about the same amount of time as the other ingredients. Thicker pieces will take longer to become tender.
Adjust the Seasoning
Ham is already salty, so additional salt usually isn't necessary. If you substitute another meat, season the packet to suit the ingredients you're using.
