Create this same idea with cookie dough.
For Valentine's Day, I cut the baked cookies out with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Frosted the middle and topped with another heart shaped cookie to make a sandwich.
For other holidays cut out with a different shaped cookie cutter. Then save the extra cookie crumbs in a bag for the freezer. Later you can add them to brownie dough or for a topping for ice cream.
Variation: Roll the frosted edges in sprinkles, crushed candies, or mini chocolate chips.
