Kid Chef Jobs

  • Shred or chop cooled turkey with supervision.
  • Measure the cheese and mashed potatoes.
  • Layer the turkey and drained green beans.
  • Sprinkle the cheese over the filling.
  • Help spread the mashed potatoes over the top.

Adult Helper

An adult should chop the onion, supervise food preparation, handle the hot casserole dish, and check that the center is heated through before serving.

Using Cold Mashed Potatoes

Cold mashed potatoes can be difficult to spread. Warm them briefly or stir in a small amount of milk before spooning them over the casserole.

Easy Variations

  • Replace green beans with peas, corn, carrots, or mixed vegetables.
  • Use leftover turkey gravy instead of condensed mushroom soup.
  • Replace regular mashed potatoes with mashed sweet potatoes.
  • Add dried parsley, garlic powder, thyme, or poultry seasoning.
