Homemade Stuffing in the Crock Pot

Crock Pot Stuffing

This easy slow cooker stuffing is full of classic Thanksgiving flavors and frees up valuable oven space on busy holiday cooking days. Kids can help measure, stir, and combine the ingredients while an adult handles the slow cooker.

Crock Pot Stuffing

Cook Time: 4-6 hours
Serves: 8-10

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, diced
  • 6 cups seasoned bread cubes (about one 7-ounce package)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 (14.5 oz.) can chicken broth
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Directions

  1. Lightly grease a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and celery and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  4. Place the bread cubes into a large bowl.
  5. Add the cooked vegetables, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, thyme, and marjoram.
  6. Whisk together the chicken broth and beaten egg, then pour over the bread mixture.
  7. Stir gently until the bread is evenly moistened.
  8. Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared slow cooker.
  9. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or HIGH for 2-2½ hours, until hot and set.
  10. Fluff gently with a fork before serving.
