Making Homemade Apple Butter

Easy Crockpot Apple Butter

Enjoy apple season with this simple homemade apple butter recipe. Made in a slow cooker, it fills your kitchen with the aroma of apples and warm spices while creating a delicious spread for toast, biscuits, muffins, and more.
Homemade crockpot apple butter

Ingredients

  • 32 ounces applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Place all ingredients into a slow cooker and stir until well combined. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally if possible. The apple butter is ready when it becomes thick, smooth, and glossy. Allow the apple butter to cool completely before transferring it to airtight containers. Store in the refrigerator or freeze in small containers for longer storage.
Yield: About 4 cups apple butter.
