Empty Tomb Rolls

Empty Tomb Rolls are a favorite Easter baking activity for kids. A marshmallow is wrapped inside crescent roll dough, coated with cinnamon sugar, and baked until golden. As the marshmallow melts away, it leaves an empty center—making this a memorable way to illustrate the Easter story while creating a delicious treat.

Ingredients

• 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
• 8 large marshmallows
• 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar
• 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, helps cinnamon sugar stick)

Directions

1. Preheat the oven according to the crescent roll package directions.
2. Separate the crescent dough into triangles.
3. If desired, lightly brush each triangle with melted butter.
4. Roll one marshmallow in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
5. Place the marshmallow on the wide end of a crescent triangle.
6. Wrap the dough completely around the marshmallow, pinching all seams tightly so the marshmallow stays inside while baking.
7. Roll the outside in additional cinnamon sugar if desired.
8. Bake according to the package directions until the rolls are puffed and golden brown.
9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before opening. The marshmallow melts away, leaving the center "empty."
