Peanut Butter Caterpillars
These adorable peanut butter caterpillars are a fun edible craft kids can make for parties, insect units, classroom activities, or an afternoon snack. Using sandwich crackers and candy decorations, children can build colorful caterpillars that are almost too cute to eat.
Ingredients
- 28 miniature round peanut butter-filled crackers
- 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- 8 miniature semisweet chocolate chips
- 8 one-inch pieces black licorice
- 32 miniature candy-coated baking chips
- Red decorating gel
Directions
Spread a small amount of peanut butter on one side of 24 crackers. Stack 6 crackers together with the peanut butter acting as glue. Place one cracker without peanut butter on top to form the caterpillar's head. Repeat to make 4 caterpillars. Carefully lay each stack on its side and gently curve it into a caterpillar shape. Use a dab of peanut butter to attach 2 chocolate chips to the head for eyes. Insert 2 licorice pieces behind the head for antennae. Attach candy-coated baking chips along the sides for legs. Finish by drawing a smile with red decorating gel.
Yield: 4 peanut butter caterpillars.
