Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1 to 2 cups cooked ground meat, such as sausage, turkey, chicken, or beef
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup salsa

Directions

Cook ground meat until no longer pink. Drain off excess fat. Place cheese, salsa, garlic, and cooked meat into a crockpot. Cook on low for about 2 hours. Stir occasionally until smooth and well combined. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, bread cubes, or vegetables.Yield: About 4 to 6 servings.

Kid Cooking Tip

Kids can help cube the cheese with supervision, measure ingredients, add items to the slow cooker, and stir the dip once it begins to melt.

Variation Ideas

Use spicy salsa for extra heat. Stir in black beans, corn, or diced green chilies for a nacho-style party dip. For a milder version, use ground turkey and mild salsa.

Serving Ideas

Serve with tortilla chips, pretzel bites, bread cubes, celery sticks, carrot sticks, bell pepper strips, or spoon over baked potatoes and nachos.
