Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: About 20 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 8 ounces uncooked bow tie pasta
- 12 ounces Italian sausage links, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 red sweet peppers, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Cook the bow tie pasta according to the package directions. Drain well and set aside.
- Add the sausage and red peppers to a large skillet.
- Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the sausage is browned and cooked through and the peppers are tender. Drain off any excess fat.
- Pour the beef broth into the skillet and stir in the black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until the pasta is evenly coated with the broth and sausage mixture.
- Serve warm.
Kid Chef Tip
Kids can measure the pasta and broth and help toss the finished pasta with the sausage and peppers. An adult should handle cutting the sausage and cooking it in the hot skillet.
Make It Your Own
Try a mixture of red, yellow, and orange bell peppers for extra color. You can also sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over each serving or add cooked onions, mushrooms, or spinach to the skillet.
