Trash Muddie Buddies

Trash muddle buddies snack mix
These crunchy chocolate peanut butter muddie buddies are a fun no-bake snack mix kids love helping make. Coated in chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar, they are perfect for parties, movie nights, holiday treats, and sweet snack cravings.

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal or similar Chex mix
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups powdered sugar

Directions

Pour the Chex cereal into a very large mixing bowl and set aside. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and vanilla. Microwave for about 30 seconds at a time, stirring between intervals, until the mixture is smooth and easy to stir.

Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir until all the cereal pieces are evenly coated. Transfer the coated cereal mixture into a large 2-gallon resealable bag. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake well until the cereal is fully coated.

Place the mixture in the refrigerator until chilled and ready to serve.
Yield: About 12 servings.

Kid Cooking Tip

Kids can help shake the powdered sugar coating onto the cereal and stir the chocolate mixture into the cereal.

Variation Ideas

Try adding pretzels, mini marshmallows, candy pieces, crushed cookies, holiday sprinkles, or white chocolate drizzle.

Serving Ideas
